Bituthene Primer WP-3000 is a water-based latex primer which is specifically formulated to bind dust and concrete efflorescence, thereby providing a suitable surface for Bituthene membranes.
Formerly: GRACE BITUTHENE PRIMER WP-3000 5GL.
Bituthene Primer WP-3000 promotes good initial adhesion and, more importantly, excellent permanent adhesion of Bituthene membranes. The VOC (Volatile Organic Compound) content is <95 g/L and it meets the U.S. E.P.A. Volatile Organic Compound Emission Standards for Architectural Coatings. Architectural and industrial maintenance regulations limit the VOC content in products classified as architectural coatings. Refer to Technical Letters for the most current list of allowable limits.
Bituthene Primer WP-3000 is used to prime all structural concrete, masonry, or wood surfaces on which Bituthene membranes will be applied. Bituthene Primer WP-3000 is used for vertical and horizontal works at 40 F (5 C) or above.

Bituthene Primer WP-3000 is packaged ready to use. Do not dilute with water or solvent. Apply by spray or roller. For best results use a professional-grade, pump-type compressed air sprayer with a brass fan tip nozzle. Apply the primer to clean surfaces at a coverage rate of 500– 600 ft2/gal (12–15 m2/L). Coverage should be uniform. The primer should not be applied so heavily that it puddles or runs. Do not apply directly to the Bituthene membrane. Allow the primer to dry for one hour. In humid conditions, dry time may be longer. In general, priming should be limited to what can be covered in 24 hours. In conditions where long dry times are expected, substrates may be primed in advance. Substrates should be reprimed if significant dirt or dust accumulates. Before the primer dries, tools should be cleaned with water. After the primer dries, tools should be cleaned with mineral spirits. Mineral spirits is a combustible liquid that should be used only in accordance with manufacturer’s safety recommendations. Do not use solvents to clean your hands or skin.
