The STI SFS Safing Spray is a high solid, latex-based elastomeric coating formulated to bridge irregularities over the mineral wool safing, and is ideal to be used to work around curtain wall mounting anchors.
Thus, this coating is highly effective and functional in the most demanding construction environment. The spray can be used for curtain wall safing works for perimeter fire barrier systems as well. However, it should be monitored that the spray contains water and is conductive until dry, making it important for one to be vigilant while handling the spray before work. It should not be applied in the presence of exposed electrical conductors. The spray is made from a fast-drying latex binder base and has no solvents, asbestos, PCBs, and inorganic fibers. It is further a non-halogenated spray that dries quickly after application to form a water-resistant, flexible film that adheres to all construction surfaces. The coating can be painted as well when dry. But the most important advantage of this safing spray is that it is UL certified and meets LEED v3, v4, v4.1 requirements. This means that the spray emits low chemicals thereby making it environment friendly.
